Established in 2003, Crown Lane Studio is run by John and Ruth Merriman. The couple pride themselves on running a relaxed, friendly and welcoming studio, where creativity and fun can thrive. John currently produces (or co-produces) most of the work undertaken at Crown Lane Studio, as well as offering tuition and training.

John’s Experience

John graduated in 2001 from Canterbury Christ Church University with a 2:1 in Music (focusing on Audio Engineering and Percussion) and a PGCE teaching qualification in music. Previous to this he travelled the UK as a drummer with the Christian pop group Audacity. He plays drums and percussion regularly at conferences and events in the UK and internationally. He has also put on specific training courses in many different countries including Austria, Bulgaria and Zimbabwe.

In July 2007 he ceased working as a music teacher at a local high school where he was both Head of Music Technology and a governor, to pursue his major passion in recording and producing music. Alongside the studio John uses his expertise to offer: drum tuition; run drumming groups; support children with behaviour issues through music; PA training workshops; session drumming and church worship.
